Starlites Victorious in First Competition of the 2016-2017 Season

Starlites 18th year starts with victories

The Starlites are back and they appear to be better than ever.

The Starlites traveled to their first competition of their 18th year in competitive dance and walked away a winner in several categories.

“Entering our 18th year with the Starlites Competitive Dance program, my passion for this program is as strong as ever,” owner Laurie Charron said. “Looking back over the years seeing all of the success we’ve enjoyed, remembering all of the team members we have worked with, many who still keep in contact with us today, I’m as excited as ever for this season.”

The Starlites competed at the Showcase America Unlimited Dance Competition in Hazle Park over the weekend. The Starlites mini team was first in the Pom Division and received the High Point Award.

Members of the team include:Â Lucy Hemby, Mackenzie Loeding, Eloise Bynum, Averi Crisenbery, Olivia Gildenpfennig, Madison Loeding, Rowyn Settel, Nevaeh Sheffer, Reese Sloan and Ava Slossar.

The Starlites Youth team was first in the Youth Pom Division, taking home the Ultimate Star rating in the division. In addition, they were first in the Jazz, Lyrical and Hip Hop Division and received the High Point Award from their Pom routine.

Team members included:Â Abby Slossar, Jayde Ullenbruch, Chasity Palmer, CJ Schott, Nalani Broderick, Chante Panutich, Nyah Reynolds, Nevaeh Sheffer, and Reese VonHiltmayer.

The Starlites Junior division placed first in Junior Lyrical, second in Junior Jazz and third in Junior Pom. The team received High Superior ratings in all categories and were awarded the High Point Award for their Lyrical routine. Team members included: Alivia Dunn, Maddy Hemby, Madison Bajis, Katie Karl, Kyra Larsen, Rylee Sloan, Allison Slossar and Brianna Slossar. The Starlites Junior Duet of Alivia Dunn and Maddy Hemby placed 1st in the Junior Ensemble category.

The Starlites Senior team was first in Jazz and Lyrical and second in the Pom and Hip Hop divisions. The team received the Ultimate Star rating in all four divisions. They were also awarded the High Point Award for their Lyrical team. Team members included Jamie Rich, Andrea Dunn, Mackenzie Schott, Younique Williams, Erica DesJardin, Alivia Dunn, Averie Dunn, Julia Halatis, Emma Huston, Autumn Nay, Madison Palmer and Morgan Smith.

“My Starlites love to be challenged and that is what we most definitely are doing this year with each group,” Charron said. “We compete against some of the best all-star teams across the country and we know we have to be in top performance to compete alongside the best.”
