Starlites Take First in Multiple Events

Starlites take first in multiple events


Talk about a good start to the season.

The Port Huron-based Starlites Competitive Dance Teams went to the Showcase America Unlimited Dance Competition in Hazel Park and drove away with plenty of hardware.

The Starlites Tiny team took first in the Primary Pom Division, earning the Superior rating and High Point Award. Ava Slossar, Eloise Bynum, Lucy Hemby, Aleeah Mann, Gracie Rich and Lola Winters make up the team.

Starlites Youth also earned first in Elementary Pom and received the lone Ultimate Star rating from the competition. They also received first place in the Jazz, Lyrical and Hip Hop categories, scoring High Superior and High Point honors for the Pom routine. That squad consists of Abby Slossar, Jayde Ullenbruch, CJ Schott, Chasity Palmer, Ella Jacobs, Katie Karl, Kyra Larsen, Grace Rancilio, Neelie Reed, Nevaeh Sheffer, Allison Slossar, Brianna Slossar and Reese VonHiltmayer. Youth Hip Hop Captains are Alivia Dunn and Maddy Hemby.

Starlites Junior placed first and earned High Superior ratings in the Junior Pom, Jazz and Lyrical categories. The team consists of Morgan Smith, Averie Dunn and Assistant Captain Mallory Nowiski; Alivia Dunn, Maddy Hemby, Lacey Mayes, Madison Palmer, Rylee Sloan, Allison Slossar and Brianna Slossar.

The Starlites Senior team also represented well, taking first place in the Jazz and Lyrical portion and receiving High Superior rating and the High Points Award for the Lyrical routine. The team also took second in Senior Hip Hop and third in Senior Pom.

Team members are Adrienne Slossar, Andrea Dunn and Jamie Rich, Emma Huston and Mackenzie Schott. Additional Senior Pom team members are Averie Dunn and Morgan Smith. Additional Senior Hip Hop team members are Ashley Blais, Averie Dunn, Morgan Smith and Younique Williams.

The teams are coached by Laurie Charron, Lynne Hearn, Adrienne Slossar and Christina Rock.
